Tureta is a Local Government Area located in Sokoto State, Nigeria. The administrative headquarters of the area is situated in the town of Tureta. Geographically, the region shares borders with Zamfara State to its south and east.
The population is predominantly composed of Hausa people, specifically from the Burmawa ethnic group. Islam is the primary religion practiced by the inhabitants of the area. The local economy is largely driven by agriculture and fishing, which serve as the major occupations for the community.
In terms of traditional leadership, the current king title of Sarkin Burmin Tureta is held by Dr. Muhammad Danrabi Tureta.
