Azare is a city located in Bauchi State, Nigeria. It serves as the headquarters for the Katagum Local Government Area (LGA). The city was established in early 1814 by Mallam Zaki, who received his appointment from Shehu Usman Dan Fodio.
The city is bordered by several neighboring regions: Damban LGA and Potiskum in Yobe State to the east; Misau LGA to the south; Jama'are LGA to the west; and Itas/Gadau LGA of Bauchi State to the north.
