Gashua is a town located in Yobe State in northeastern Nigeria. It is situated on the Yobe River, positioned a few miles below the point where the Hadejia River and the Jama'are River converge. The area has an average elevation of approximately 299 meters.
As of the 2006 census, the population of Gashua was about 125,000. The region experiences distinct seasonal weather patterns; the hottest months are March and April, with temperatures ranging between 38°C and 40°C. During the rainy season from June to September, temperatures typically drop to between 23°C and 28°C, with annual rainfall measuring between 500 and 1000mm.
