Argungu is a city located in Nigeria's Kebbi State, situated along the banks of the Sokoto River. As of 2007, the city had an estimated population of 47,064. It serves as the seat of the Argungu Emirate, which is a traditional state.
The city functions as a major agricultural center for the region, producing key crops such as tobacco, peanuts, rice, millet, wheat, and sorghum. Additionally, Argungu is known for hosting an annual international fishing festival. Although the event was suspended for 11 years, it resumed in March 2020.
