Ogwashi-Uku, also spelled Ogwashi Ukwu, is an Igbo town situated in the Delta State of Nigeria. Located west of the state capital, Asaba, it serves as the headquarters for the Aniocha South Local Government Area. The town is part of the Anioma region and is home to the Enuani people, who are primarily engaged in farming and fishing.
The population of Ogwashi-Uku is approximately 200,234, though this figure has seen significant growth over time. The town comprises several villages, including Ikelike, Umu Dei, Agidiase, Agidiehe, Ogbe Akwu, Ishekpe, Ogbe Onicha, Ogbe Ubu, Ogbe Ani, and Umu-okwe.
One notable community within the town is Azungwu, located in the southwestern part. This area is characterized by its spiritual significance and history as a community of warriors. It features the Ngwu Tree, a spiritual tree planted in the 11th century during the establishment of the settlement, and consists of seven distinct subcommunities or families.
