Obiaruku is an Ukwuani town located in Delta State, Nigeria. It serves as the headquarters of the Ukwuani Local Government Area and is recognized as one of the primary homelands of the Ukwuani-speaking (akashiada) people. The settlement was established by individuals originating from Ezhiọkpọ and Ụmụebu.
The town is composed of several communities and sub-communities known as quarters, including Ọkụzụ, Ụmụsume, Ogbeaka, and Ogwezhi. Each quarter is led by an Ọkpala-Uku, who serves as the traditional head and oldest male of that specific community. These leaders oversee a cabinet of chiefs (Ine-otu), which includes titles such as the One-otu-Uku, Ugo (Speaker), and Ọnụeze.
Traditional governance in Obiaruku is further structured through a general assembly of traditional rulers. In this system, the oldest Ọkpala-Uku among the various quarters holds the position of Ọkpala-Uku General.
