Suleja is a city and Local Government Area located in Niger State, Nigeria. It is situated just north of Abuja, which serves as the national capital.
The city is occasionally confused with its neighbor, Abuja, due to their close proximity. This confusion stems from historical naming; Suleja was originally named Abuja before the Nigerian government chose to adopt the name from Emir Sulayman Bal for the new federal capital in 1976.
