Kontagora

Kontagora is a major town situated on the south bank of the Kontagora River in north-west Niger State, Nigeria. It serves as the capital city of the Kontagora Emirate.

The town is notable for its religious and political significance within the region. On December 15, 1995, the Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate of Kontagora was established there, with St Michael's Cathedral serving as the seat of the apostolic vicar. Additionally, the city is the hometown of former Niger State governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello.
