Ilorin is the capital city of Kwara State, situated in the Western region of Nigeria. While the city is officially classified under the North-Central geopolitical zone, it is recognized as a Yoruba city by all historical and sociological standards.
According to the 2006 census, Ilorin had a population of 777,667, which ranked it as the seventh largest city in Nigeria by population at that time.
