Owerri

Owerri is the capital city of Imo State in Nigeria, situated in the heart of Igboland. It serves as the state's largest city, followed by Orlu, Okigwe, and Ohaji/Egbema. The city covers an area of approximately 551 square kilometres across three Local Government Areas: Owerri Municipal, Owerri North, and Owerri West.

The city is bordered by the Otamiri River to the east and the Nworie River to the south. As of 2016, Owerri had an estimated population of 1,401,873. It is known as the "Heartland" and has earned the nickname "Las Vegas of Africa" due to its extensive nightlife, numerous hotels, casinos, and leisure parks.
