Shani

Shani, also known as Shanaishchara, is a male Hindu deity and the divine personification of the planet Saturn. In Hindu astrology, he is recognized as one of the nine heavenly objects known as the Navagraha. He serves as the god of karma, time, and retribution, delivering results based on an individual's thoughts, speech, and deeds.

In traditional iconography, Shani is depicted with a dark complexion, often carrying a sword or danda (sceptre) while seated upon a buffalo or a crow. He governs various aspects of human existence, including longevity, discipline, responsibility, ambition, and wisdom gained through experience. Additionally, he signifies spiritual asceticism, penance, and conscientious work.

Shani is associated with two primary consorts: Neela, who represents the gemstone sapphire, and Manda, a gandharva princess. His role in Hindu belief encompasses both the administration of worldly consequences and the cultivation of internal virtues such as integrity and humility.
