Otuocha is a populated town located in Nigeria. It serves as the headquarters for the Anambra East Local Government Area within Anambra State.
Historically, the town functioned as a divisional headquarters of the Anambra Divisional Council during Nigeria's First Republic between 1963 and 1966. Before the administrative restructuring of 1991, it was recognized as the oldest local government headquarters in the former Anambra area.
During the Nigerian Civil War, Otuocha was situated on the northern flank of Biafra, a short-lived secessionist state. It was considered one of the region's food baskets due to its large market during that period.
