Kankia is a Local Government Area (LGA) located in Katsina State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are situated in the town of Kankia, which lies along the Kano-Katsina road A9 highway at coordinates 12°32′57″N 7°49′31″E. The area is composed of several towns and villages, including Kafin Dangi, Sukuntuni, Rimaye, Sabuwar Duniya, Tafashiya, Gaza, Kafin-soli, and Kankia.
According to the 2006 census, the population of the Kankia Local Government Area was estimated at 151,434 inhabitants. The majority of the residents belong to the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups, and both Hausa and Fufulde are widely spoken languages in the region. Islam is the most practiced religion within the area. The paramount traditional ruler of the LGA is the Hakimi Kankia.
