Bwari is a city and local government area situated within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria. The town is primarily inhabited by the Gbagyi-speaking people.
The traditional leadership of Bwari is headed by the paramount ruler known as the Esu, also referred to as Sa-bwaya. Following the establishment of the FCT in Abuja, the administrative and traditional structure underwent significant changes. In 1976, Musa Ijakoro was turbaned as the District Head of Bwari, and he was later elevated to the position of Sarki of Bwari with second-class status in 1997 by the Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory.
