Obalende is a neighborhood located in Lagos, Nigeria, within the Eti-Osa Local Government Area. It is situated close to Lagos Island and falls under the Ikoyi–Obalende Local Community Development Area (LCDA). The name Obalende is a contraction of the Yoruba saying "Ibi ti Oba le wa de," which translates to "Where the king chased us to."
The area is characterized by high levels of congestion and crowding. It serves as an educational hub, housing several schools such as Holy Child College Obalende, St Gregory's College, Aunty Ayo International School, and Girls Secondary Grammar School. The neighborhood is also bordered by the police barracks and Army barracks.
Obalende is well-known for its nightlife and its red-light district. It is also recognized for its suya, specifically at a popular location known as Suya Junction.
