Apapa is a Local Government Area located in Lagos, Nigeria. It is situated to the west of Lagos Island at the mouth of the Lagos Lagoon.
The area serves as a primary industrial and maritime hub for the country. It houses several port facilities operated by the Nigerian Ports Authority, most notably the Apapa Port Complex and Tin Can Island Port. These sites function as Nigeria's largest and busiest gateways for international trade.
In addition to its port infrastructure, Apapa contains significant refineries, warehouses, and the headquarters of various shipping and logistics companies. While the district includes residential zones such as a Government Reserved Area (GRA), it is primarily characterized by its heavy commercial activity and the intensive vehicular traffic associated with its industrial operations.
