Momona is a small town located on the Taieri Plain in the South Island of New Zealand. While it serves as a rural locality within this region, its history is tied to local education and industry.
The town was home to Momona School, which was established in 1899 and remained operational until it closed in 2004. Additionally, the area hosted a cheese factory for the Henley Co-operative Dairy Company; the company moved its operations from nearby Henley to Momona before closing the facility in the 1980s.
