Sedudu Island, also known as Kasikili, is a fluvial island located in the Chobe River in Botswana. It sits adjacent to the border with Namibia and covers an area of approximately 5 square kilometres. The island has no permanent residents.
The territory was previously the subject of a dispute between Botswana and Namibia. This conflict was resolved by a 1999 ruling from the International Court of Justice, which determined that the border runs down the thalweg of the river immediately north of the island. Due to its location in the Chobe region, it is considered one of the area's primary tourist attractions.
The geography of the island changes seasonally based on water levels. For several months each year, starting around March, Sedudu Island becomes submerged by floods from the river.
