Rundu is the capital and largest city of the Kavango East Region in northern Namibia. It is situated on the banks of the Kavango River at an elevation of approximately 1,000 metres above sea level. The city is located near the national border with Angola.
The urban center has experienced significant demographic growth in recent years. According to census data, the population rose from 36,964 in 2001 to 118,632 by 2023.
