Nampula is the capital city of Nampula Province, located in northern Mozambique. Situated in the interior of the province approximately 200 kilometers from the coast, the city is characterized by a landscape of surrounding plains and rocky outcrops.
With a population of 743,125, Nampula is the third-largest city in Mozambique, following Maputo and Matola. It serves as a major regional center for northern Mozambique, as well as parts of central Mozambique and neighboring border areas including Malawi and Tanzania.
