Nacala

Mozambique

Nacala is a city situated on the northern coast of Mozambique in the Nampula region. It is specifically located within the southwestern indentation of inner Fernao Veloso Bay.

The city is notable for hosting the deepest natural port on the east coast of Africa. Additionally, Nacala serves as the terminal for the Nacala railway, which provides a rail link to the landlocked country of Malawi. Mozambique Island, a former capital and current World Heritage Site, is located south of the city.
