Matola

Matola is a city located in the Maputo Province region of Mozambique. It serves as the capital of the province and functions as the largest suburb of the national capital, Maputo, situated adjacent to its westernmost side. The city has maintained its own elected municipal government since 1998.

As the most populated city in Mozambique, Matola is a significant economic hub for the nation. It contains the country's largest industrial area and operates a port. According to census data, the population grew from 671,556 in 2007 to 1,032,197 by 2017.
