Putrajaya

Malaysia

Putrajaya, officially known as the Federal Territory of Putrajaya, serves as the administrative centre of Malaysia. It was established to house the nation's government functions following a relocation from Kuala Lumpur in 1999 due to issues with overcrowding and congestion.

The seat of the federal judiciary was subsequently moved to Putrajaya in 2003. While Putrajaya functions as the administrative hub, Kuala Lumpur remains Malaysia's national capital city under the constitution, continuing to serve as the seat of the head of state, the national legislature, and the country's primary commercial and financial centre.
