Kuala Lumpur, officially known as the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, serves as the capital city of Malaysia. It is a federal territory and the most populous city within the country, encompassing an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi).

As of 2024, the city has a population of 2,075,600. The broader urban agglomeration known as Greater Kuala Lumpur, which includes the Klang Valley, houses approximately 8.81 million people. The region is recognized as one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in Southeast Asia regarding both economic development and population growth.
