Bangsar is a residential suburb located on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is situated approximately 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south-west of the city centre and falls within the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency.
The area is administered by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), distinguishing it from other nearby townships in the Klang Valley such as Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya, which maintain their own municipal councils. While neighbourhood residents' associations and business councils exist to communicate with local authorities, they do not possess legal or administrative power.
The demographic composition of Bangsar is primarily Malay, who make up 61% of the population. The remaining residents are predominantly Chinese at 24% and Indian at 15%.
