Kuala Terengganu, colloquially known as KT, is the administrative, economic, and royal city of the Malaysian state of Terengganu. It serves as the seat of the Kuala Terengganu District and holds a unique distinction as the only royal capital among Malaysia's nine royal states to bear its state's name.
The city is located on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, approximately 440 kilometres (270 mi) northeast of Kuala Lumpur. Geographically, it is situated at the estuary of the Terengganu River and faces the South China Sea.
