Kuala Nerus is a district located in the state of Terengganu, Malaysia. Established as a separate administrative entity in 2014, it is the youngest district in the state. It covers a total land area of 397.52 km² and serves as the most populous district in Terengganu, with a recorded population of 226,177 as of 2015.
The district is governed by the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT), making it one of the few city councils in Malaysia to manage two separate districts. While its capital is Kuala Nerus town, several other major towns and villages—including Gong Badak, Seberang Takir, Batu Rakit, and Batu Enam—are situated within the district and fall under the jurisdiction of the same city council.
