Banting is a town located in the state of Selangor, Malaysia. It serves as the administrative seat of the Kuala Langat District and is situated on the banks of the Langat River. The town has a population of 93,497 and is administered by Zones 15 and 19 of the Kuala Langat Municipal Council under the postal code 42700.
The town functions as a rest stop (Bandar Persinggahan) along Federal Route 5. It is characterized as an agricultural hub, primarily producing oil palm, poultry, and betel leaves, while also hosting several industrial areas. Banting is located near the beaches of Morib and various forests and hills. Additionally, it is situated near Jugra, a former royal town of Selangor, and is the hometown of Malaysian badminton player Rashid Sidek.
