Miri is a coastal city located in north-eastern Sarawak, Malaysia, on the island of Borneo. It serves as the capital of the Miri District and the Miri Division. Geographically, the city is situated near the border of Brunei, approximately 798 kilometres northeast of Kuching and 329 kilometres southwest of Kota Kinabalu.
As the second largest city in Sarawak, Miri covers a total area of 997.43 square kilometres. As of 2020, the city had a recorded population of 356,900 residents.
