Kuala Kangsar is the royal town of Perak, a state in Malaysia. It serves as the primary town within the administrative district of Kuala Kangsar and is administered by the Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council. The local government body was previously known as the Kuala Kangsar District Council from 1 January 1980 until 17 February 2004.
The town is situated at the downstream point where the Kangsar River joins the Perak River. It is located approximately 25 km northwest of Ipoh, the capital of Perak, and 98 km southeast of George Town, Penang. Kuala Kangsar sits about 235 km from the national capital of Kuala Lumpur.
