Mzuzu is the capital of the Northern Region of Malawi and serves as the country's third-largest city by population. Located within the Mzimba District, the city is situated in a gap in the Viphya Mountains. It has a resident population of 221,272 and approximately 20,000 commuters.
The agricultural region surrounding Mzuzu specializes in the cultivation of tea, rubber, and coffee. Notable natural landmarks near the city include the Lunyangwa and Kaning’ina forest preserves to the east, as well as the Viphya Plantation to the south, which is recognized as the largest man-made forest in Africa.
