Karonga is a township located in the Karonga District within the Northern Region of Malawi in southeastern Africa. Situated on the western shore of Lake Malawi, the settlement was originally established as a slaving center prior to 1877.
As of 2018 estimates, the population of Karonga is approximately 61,609. The primary and major language spoken in this district is Tumbuka, which serves as a regional language throughout Northern Malawi.
