Valletta, also known as Città Umilissima, is the capital city of Malta and one of its 68 council areas. It is situated between the Grand Harbour to the east and Marsamxett Harbour to the west. As of 2021, the city had a population of 5,157.

The city serves as a commercial center for dining, shopping, bars, and café life. Valletta is notable for being the southernmost capital in Europe and holds the distinction of being the smallest capital city in the European Union, covering an area of just 0.61 square kilometres (0.24 sq mi).
