Rabat is the capital city of Morocco, situated on the northwestern coast along the Atlantic Ocean. It serves as the administrative center for the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region and is positioned at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg, directly opposite its main commuter town, Salé.
As the country's seventh-largest city, Rabat has a population of 515,619 as of 2024. It represents the second-largest metropolitan area in Morocco following Casablanca, with an estimated metropolitan population of approximately 2.1 million for 2025.
