Żurrieq is a historic town located in the Western Region of Malta. It is recognized as one of the oldest towns in the country and serves as an administrative center for the island of Filfla. Geographically, the town boundaries stretch from Nigret to Ħal Far.
The town was one of the ten parishes documented in 1436 and is dedicated to Saint Catherine. Historically, Żurrieq shared a border with Żejtun. Additionally, the village of Qrendi was originally part of the parish of Żurrieq until it was established as an independent parish in 1618.
