Żejtun is a city located in the Southern Region of Malta. Historically, the area was known as Casale Santa Caterina, a name derived from its patron saint and parish titular.
In 1797, the settlement received the title Città Beland, which was conferred by Ferdinand von Hompesch zu Bolheim, the Grandmaster of the Order of the Knights of Malta. The city remains a recognized locality within the southern part of the island.
