Marsaxlokk is a small, traditional fishing village located in the Southern Region of Malta. Historically inhabited since antiquity, it served as a port for the Phoenicians and Carthaginians and contains remains of a Roman-era harbour. Although it was originally part of the city of Żejtun, the village established itself as a separate parish during the late nineteenth century.
The village is a prominent tourist attraction recognized for its history, scenic views, and fishing industry. It features a notable seafront where the Marsaxlokk Market is held; this site functions as a large fish market on Sundays and serves as a general tourist market throughout the rest of the week.
