Senglea, also known by its title Città Invicta, is a fortified city located in the Port Region of Malta. It is one of the Three Cities situated within the Grand Harbour area, alongside Cospicua and Vittoriosa. The name Senglea was derived from Claude de la Sengle, the Grand Master who built the city and gave it a portion of his own name.
The city earned its title Città Invicta because it successfully resisted the Ottoman invasion during the Great Siege of Malta in 1565. While it ranks as the 52nd most populated locality on the island with approximately 2,720 residents, its very small land area makes it the second most densely populated locality in Malta, surpassed only by Sliema.
