Mtarfa is a small town located in the Northern Region of Malta. It was historically considered to be a suburb of Rabat until it achieved status as a separate local council in the year 2000.
The town maintains a twinning relationship with the village of Pumpherston, Scotland. As of July 2024, Mtarfa had a population of 2,607 residents, consisting of 1,286 males and 1,321 females. The demographic breakdown includes 2,489 Maltese nationals and 118 foreign nationals.
