Cotai

Macao

Cotai is a 5.2-square-kilometer (2.0 sq mi) area of reclaimed land located in Macao. It was constructed on top of Seac Pai Bay, situated between Taipa and Coloane islands. Since 2005, the reclamation has served to connect these two previously independent islands.

The name Cotai is a portmanteau derived from the names of the neighboring islands, Coloane and Taipa. It can refer specifically to the land formed by the reclamation project or to the island itself. In the context of the Special Administrative Region of Macau, Cotai Island is located approximately one mile south of the Macau Peninsula.
