Kharkhorin is a town and sum (district) center located in the Övörkhangai Province of Mongolia. The town covers an area of approximately 20.5 km2.
The settlement is historically significant for its proximity to the capital of the Mongol Empire during the 13th century, which spanned 23 million km2. As of 2017, the population of Kharkhorin town was 14,765.
