Taungoo, also spelled Toungoo and formerly known as Toung-ngú, is a district-level city located in the Bago Region of Myanmar. It is situated approximately 220 km from Yangon toward the north-eastern end of the division, characterized by mountain ranges to both its east and west.
The city serves as a regional hub and is notably the home base for Hanthawaddy United Football Club.
