Thayet is a capital city located in the Thayet District of the Magway Region in central Myanmar. It serves as the administrative seat for both Thayet District and Thayet Township.
The city is situated on the western bank of the Irrawaddy River, positioned between Pyay (Prome) and Magway, just south of Allanmyo. As of 2014, the population within the city proper was recorded at 20,251.
