Mawlamyine, formerly known as Moulmein, is a city located in Myanmar. It is situated at the mouth of the Thanlwin (Salween) River, approximately 300 kilometres southeast of Yangon and 70 kilometres south of Thaton.
The city serves as the capital of Mon State and holds historical significance as an ancient settlement. It was notably the first capital of British Burma.
