Mottama, also known as Martaban, is a town situated in the Thaton District of Mon State, Myanmar. It is located on the west bank of the Thanlwin River (Salween), positioned directly across from the city of Mawlamyaing.
The town served as the capital of the Martaban Kingdom from 1287 to 1364. Historically, it was a significant international entrepôt until the mid-16th century.
