Yawnghwe, also known as Nyaungshwe, is a city located in Myanmar. Historically, it served as a prominent Shan state and was considered one of the most significant regions within the Southern Shan States.
The Yawnghwe state encompassed Inle Lake. While the king's palace was situated at Yawnghwe, the administrative capital of the state was Taunggyi, located in its northern section. During the British administration, the Superintendent of the Southern Shan States resided in Taunggyi.
