Kengtung, also spelled Kyaingtong and known by its classical name Tungapuri, is a city located in the Shan State of Myanmar. It serves as the principal town of Kengtung Township and functions as the capital of eastern Shan State.
Historically, the city was the former seat of Kengtung State, which was a minor principality. It is situated along National Highway 4 (NH4) and at the intersection of the AH2 and AH3 routes of the Asian Highway.
