Monywa is a city located in the Sagaing Region of Myanmar. It is situated on the eastern bank of the River Chindwin, approximately 136 kilometres (85 mi) north-west of Mandalay.
The city is recognized as one of the most economically important urban centers in Myanmar. It is also commonly referred to as "Neem City" due to the numerous neem trees that line many of its streets.
