Hpa-an is a large city located in southeastern Myanmar. It serves as the capital and largest city of Kayin State. According to the 2014 census, the city had a population of 421,575, which consists primarily of the Karen ethnic group.
The city has grown significantly in size and is currently recognized as the fifth largest city in Myanmar, having surpassed Taunggyi in this ranking.
