Myitkyina

Myitkyina is the capital city of Kachin State in Myanmar. It is situated on the west bank of the Ayeyarwady River, approximately 1,480 kilometers from Yangon and 785 kilometers from Mandalay.

The name Myitkyina translates to "near the big river" in Burmese. The city serves as Myanmar's northernmost railway terminus and river port, located just 40 kilometers downstream from the confluence of its two headstreams at Myit-son. Transportation to the city is facilitated by Myitkyina Airport.
